Most Rev.Bishop Paulose Mar Philoxinose

                Most Rev. Bishop Paulose Mar Philoxinose  was a great missionary and inspiration for the reunion movement in Kerala Catholic Church, second only to Servant of God Mar Ivanios who is considered the pioneer of Re-union Movement.

                  Bishop Mar Philoxinose was born in Thozhiyur, Thrissur district on 28th April 1928. He was the eldest son of his loving parents Ayyankulangara Thomas and Thandakkutty. After basic education and matriculation, he started the priestly formation in the Malabar Independent Syrian Church based in Thozhiyur. He was ordained as priest on 24th December 1961 and was elevated to the rank of episcopacy and consecrated on 16th December 1967.

                   After ten years of his zealous work, he was reunited to the Catholic Church on 28 August 1977 and resided at Anjoor which is very close to his ancestral home. The Pope Paul the sixth appointed him as the titular Bishop of Chayal and his eminence also held a meeting with Pope John Paul the Second. He had been spiritually guiding the community and made himself as an outstanding witness to Christ and the reunion movement for the last 21 years. From childhood, he was tormented by breathing difficulties, which he accepted and submitted to our Lord Jesus Christ, along with Christ’s sufferings.

                    After serving the church of Christ, he was called to eternal rest on 3rd November 1998 at the Pushpagiri Medical College Hospital, Tiruvalla. His mortal remains are kept at St. John’s Metropolitan Cathedral, Tiruvalla.
